Auroville, Intentional, International community in the South of India where Argentinean Tango has elected one of its India Headquarters...
Founded in 2010, the Auroville Argentine Tango community grew quietly, like a secret shared at dusk—step by step, embrace by embrace and is now well into its teanger time, with some Hormonal and psychological confusion, selective hearing, professional napper, and expert eye-roller yet a beautiful, messy masterpiece of self-discovery and growth, near to uncontrollable growth...
Rooted in the experimental soil of Auroville (More about Auroville HERE), Tango found here a natural home: a place devoted to human unity, sincerity of practice, and the courage to keep learning.
In 2012, the first Auroville Tango Festival unfurled its wings. What began as an intimate gathering soon became a beacon, drawing dancers from India and far beyond. Now, as the community prepares for the Lucky XIIᵗʰ edition, the festival stands as a living milestone—proof of continuity, trust, and shared joy.
This is a deeply international community, where cultures, languages, and styles meet without hierarchy. Classes, practicas, milongas, and festivals are supported by thoughtful facilities: airy halls, wooden floors, nature close at hand, and a rhythm of life that allows time to listen—to the music, to the partner, to oneself.
Learning here is never finished. Teachers, students, and visiting maestros all arrive as seekers. Beyond Auroville, this community has played a pivotal, quietly influential role in the growth of tango across India—connecting cities, inspiring initiatives, and holding a steady, generous space where tango is not performed, but lived.
No wonder that it is already one of the first point of entry for Tango visitors and the haven of a very vibrant, lively and always learning community of Local dancers ever searching for growth both in quantity and quality knowing that both play a near to equal role in the "Collective embrace"...
