Argentine Tango in Pune
Tango in Pune has always been about the people. It began over a decade ago with a few curious dancers and no grand plan. People learned wherever they could, through travel, visiting teachers, and long hours together. Over time, local teachers emerged and many voices found space. That diversity became our strength. There is no single style here and no fixed hierarchy. Teachers coexist and collaborate, and dancers move freely between classes and ideas. The focus stays on learning, listening, and connection. We meet regularly for milongas and practicas. These gatherings are simple, consistent, and welcoming. They are where friendships form and the dance deepens. Practicas keep the learning honest. Milongas keep the joy alive. Once a year, we host Pune Tangotsav. The festival brings dancers from across India and beyond. It feels intimate and grounded, much like the community itself. All of this is held by volunteers who organise spaces, schedules, and details, often while dancing themselves. That keeps everything human. Beginners are welcomed gently. Experienced dancers remain approachable. Over time, trust builds. Tango in Pune feels lived-in and real. It reflects the city. Open, warm, and quietly committed.
